"72" Base with Vanadium

Evaluation:
Unsure how to describe this glaze. Visually it looks dry, however the pooling and separation of color is quite glossy. Their is an extreme separation of color in this glaze that is visually conflicting with tactile assumptions. Their is almost an oily separation. In places where an initiation of a drip begins, the best analogy I can come up with is olive oil mixed with butter. The opaque coloring (butterish) almost floats on the clear olive oil gloss. Interesting glaze!

Evaluation:
Extremly unstable. The positive qualities...transitions nicely from matt to gloss, and the interior pools to a rich and deep black/brown. However this glaze runns! Only use on top half (if not higher, top third).

Evaluation:
Semi-Satin Glaze. Charming glaze that transitions from a subtle periwinkle (i cant think of a word to describe this purplish blue, and I apologize that I chose periwinkle as a descriptor)to a strong saturated pastel blue. The transition between colors marks and highlights the movement of this glaze that again adds exciting depth to a traditional satin blue.

Evaluation:
Opaque tan glaze. This is an interesting glaze with transitions between dusty tan and leather tan. From a distance this glaze translates a solid tan, however up-close this glaze has allot of charcter and expression. A bit unstable, however altering the gravity or thinner application may resolve dripping. This glaze will be tested again under the same name (test 3 from Fall 2009)and re-posted. Inital test showed the gravity and application to be correct, however this is a glaze worth perfecting. Please check back for alternative test results and images.

This is a nice stable glaze. What you see is what you get. White gloss, semi transparent.

Black
Cone 6 Oxidation

Evaluation:
This glaze is a rich black with exciting depth. It has the characteristics of gas pooling in water. An extremely stable glaze with a visualy oily or tar like movement that captures time. From a distance caries a strong gloss black presence, however when viewed up close is expressive and transitions with iridescent(ish)movement. In this test the overall gravity and application of 3 seconds was a hair too long. The dripping view within the immage is not a result of an unstable glaze, rather application should be changed, or a small addition of water would produce a more stable hold on the cup.
